Big Timber Wolves Beat Lewiston 6 - 1
|
|
The Big Timber Wolves Soccer Team won played excellent soccer on Saturday to a home crowd. The first game was against Livingston, a team ranked 2nd in their division. Big Timber came out in the first half and went ahead of Livingston with 2 goals, but Livingston came back with 4 unanswered goals. Then late in the game Big Timber added the final goal to make the score 4 to 3. Big Timber Coach Curg Johnson was impressed with the play of the team, saying that they played excellent against one of the best teams around. Both teams played aggressively.
The second game, played at 4:00pm the same day vs. Lewiston, saw Big Timber playing great as a team again. The passing was excellent and Big Timber dominated the entire game. In the first half the score was tied early 1 to 1. But then Big Timber started taking over the game, and when it was all over Big Timber scored 5 unanswered goals to win the game 6 to 1. Scoring in this game was Thor Terland with 3, Jason Norris with 2, and Yancy Terland with 1. Big Timber played without Tyrell Johnson in the second game as he was red carded in the game vs. Livingston.
Lewiston's teams attitude was disrespectful,
especially when they were behind in the second half, as their players were
celebrating the stomping they were receiving. Yet this did not provoke Big
Timber to act any differently and they went on to play in a very sportsmanlike
respectful manner. The "Winning Attitude" was shown by Big
Timber, as you got the feeling that the actions of the Lewiston team did not
have any effect. In the second half, the line judge from Lewiston,
father to one of the Lewiston team players, commented that "They deserve
this.....their attitude is awful" and gave up his line judging with
little in the game left to go stating that he could not watch. At the end
of the game, the Lewiston team lined up in the middle of the field seemingly to
congratulate Big Timber, but instead mooned Big Timber. Few people noticed
the action though, as Big Timber celebrated their win with a team
meeting. Then, a few Lewiston players apologized for their
disrespectful actions and lined up and congratulated the Wolves for the
game. It seems that the Big Timber team showed class that permeated the
other team into deciding on doing the right thing.
Big Timber lost both of their away games the previous week vs. Havre and Dillon, so their record now is 3 wins, 6 losses, and 1 tie. With this record, it is noted that Big Timber has played very well and can compete with any of the teams that they play. We wish them well in the playoffs starting next weekend. More to be posted on the playoffs soon.
