Community role:
We believe that the community is bases for one’s life and the way they will continue in their life and how they will react to the world. The community should focus on all areas that children of all kinds look at. For example if there is a troubled child they should help them so problems don’t arise later on in the community. The community needs to make something that’s fun where families can spend time together doing constructive activities that will keep people off of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Communities role is to act as an extended family of the youth with each member of the larger community teaching and guiding the youth to learn to be responsible contributing adults that in turn will help the next generation.
We believe that the community’s role is and to:
- nurturing minds and bodies with positive examples and role models,
- challenging its members to be leaders for both our youth and adults,
- helping to make leaders out of the youth,
- providing guidance, direction, help, and counsel,
- making the rules and governing the environment,
- helping each other,
- and making decisions with background of youth.

Community Defined- Vision
The community is the sum total of the people who by their words and consistent actions communicate and convey to the youth the values, attitudes, and means to pursue that which will maximize the youth’s opportunity and probability to be contributing members of society at large. We believe the community is an extension of the school and family where healthy minds interact socially, spiritually and mentally to strengthen and unite our community. We believe that the community is one whole family -so if there is one little problem it affects the whole community. We think the community should make sure that every troubled child gets attention so that no big problems arise that would hurt the community now or later on. We believe a community will shape a child’s life forever; what her or she learns they will show throughout their life. We believe that good communities help a child succeed. The community is an environment for growth and opportunity where role models guide and challenge its members to create and opportunity for growth and service.
Leadership and Role Models
...is to be an example to the youth of today, role models, ...is to set good examples. It is very important to show good sportsmanship. They should also provide guidance to and serve as a role model for young people to ensure they become productive members of society. . It is hard to make an impact if our plan is do as I tell you not as I do. has a responsibility to nurture the minds and bodies by setting examples and action, The youth should be able to look around the community and see morals, goals, and standards being set and learn from those. Mentoring, Encourage "seniors" to volunteers at schools and kids to seniors
adopt grandparnets ,Adopt a Grandparent, Need extended families- adopt "family" support Big Brothers and Big Sisters Let students/kids do for community not just think that community has to do for kids
Peer Mentoring Groups, support groups of all types/crises, support ststem for families in trouble, support groups i.e. separated/divorced (st. Joseph's pastoral administrator wants to provide this) Things students can do for senior citizens "adopt a grandparent"
after school programs.
Recognition
Above all let them know they are loved their ideas valued that they be encouraged. Be very friendly and encouraging to them. Tell them when they have done a good job. ...is to recognize and value the person as an individual, Recognition for accomplishments - appreciation
Support
acceptance - listen - pay attention - time - activities, should give support to all youth to develop their own individual potential, I believe that the community is a place that all the young people learn from that if a community is caring and loving that the person will feel that is the way to go and will continue to be a lovi9ng and caring person for the rest of their life. If the community is not loving and caring then the person will be more drawn back and out of the world. for protecting the and developing the future dreams.

Plus communicating and interacting with other people will help them go be more social later in life. Learning and Teaching
...is to provide young people with a school that teaches the basics and morality - a comm that is safe. Plus I think that, as older kids should teach younger kids. Our parents and =teachers teach us elderly people teach them and so forth, Provide community centered learning experiences through activates that include mental and moral, Education and Programs, effects of alcohol, drugs, and protection. mental health counseling. To strengthen families, - community use of the Civic center for family projects and programs more family entertainment - Family movies
Encourage youth involvement in a variety of activities including sports that reflect strong family participation and youth center that could include a drama club, swim center, roller skating and tutor time.1. Community use of civic center for family projects and programs. 6. Promote family responsibili8ty and encouragement in all activities. Develop a report of ramifications (financial, family, health) of any addiction (caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, hard drugs, gambling). Develop a report on what the money spent on addictions could grow into if invested.
......
Community Resources
A comm could provide resources both personal and financial to help youth to be able to grow.swimming center-swim center
-grass on playground
teen center adults helping but kids participate- Think comm
should have a place where kids can hang out. ...should be to provide the
resources necessary for young people to develop their potential. Teen Center
This would provide a place where kids can express themselves without the use of
ATOD and not be laughted at. It could provide a place where kids could het help
and have fun at the same time. It would also provide an activity for more people
than half the student body. It would help kids who don't participate in sports
or the kids that use ATOD. A group of teens have been
discusing a teen center. At the grade school there is alot of votes for on. It
covers many wide varieties of kids. Sports players, brains, ATOD users, and kids
that just don't fit in. A place for teens to hang out- Teen

Involving Everyone
It is also important to extend this to everyone. We must make the
effort to include even those that are not inclined to join. 1.Organize welcome
parties 2.distribute a resource list of available services
3. Make a map of the area.
What we can do as a community to make new residents feel welcome is to be more
friendly and willing to help them. Let them know what resources are available in
town. Welcome and include them on projects with parents. teach moral values of
inclusion and acceptance that all people and their ideas are sacred, special.

related, properly close old buildings

community needs to enforce laws fairly. (Consequences are the same no matter who
you are.)

where children and teens can talk to their peers and not feel inferior or
embarrassed like they would with adults. Mentoring Build positive attitudes
***Safe Places-Teen center, To have more safe places to go if there is a
gunman or someone who is drunk going through town. We can use
more safe places in case of emergency (safe houses on every block).Provide

people. take care of dogs - (2 times mentioned)

children more safe?
Acceptance- accepting each other
Relationships- Close relationships between law and youth.
Feel pretty safe - nothing to be afraid of
Reduce availability of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs
Punishment/Deterrent: The community needs to have equal punishments
for every person in this community. So we are able to unit better. We are
too limited. Suggestions: , harsher consequences, people who know about
kids that are doing ATOD to call on a hotline to tell police, ., Raise prices on
ATOD, Stop the demand and supply will vanish., Tougher penalty of suppliers -
Ask offenders who supplied them - who bought it., Catching and prosecuting of
dealers (drugs) prosecuting of selling to underage customers (tobacco, alcohol),
