Community Need Assessment Feedback Posted!

Two grants are being written; 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant headed by Grayce Sivgny and Community Incentive Program Grant (CIP) headed by Tracy Stephens. Doug McCann is involved as a representative of these grants outside the schools, as the grants are for the community as a whole. Awards are being distributed to both urban areas and rural and last year Livingston received $500,000 to implement this program in their community. The least amount that our community can apply for is $75,000. The deadline for the grant is a month, so many volunteers are needed.
The Community Incentive Program Grant is a 3 year cooperative agreement providing short term resources for communities to build substance abuse prevention system, prevention as being a pro-active endeavor to keep kids interested in other activities other than alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. Problem areas that were noted were:
Avialibility of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs
- Community Disengagement
- Family issues (family management, discipline, lack of expectations, family history of antisocial behaviors)
- Impulsiveness and Depression
The mission of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant is to Provide expanded learning opportunities and other activities outside of the regular school hours.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters is a Mentoring Program being started in Sweet Grass County.
Community Center is a stated need for the community.
Parks and Recreation provides opportunities for community involvement.
